Indian Edtech Pioneer Vedantu Attains Unicorn Status

Vedantu's valuation jumps to $1 billion after Series E

With its $100 million Series E round, Vedantu has become a unicorn. The online tutoring pioneer's Series E round was led by Singapore-based impact investing fund ABC World Asia. The round also saw participation from existing investors Coatue, Tiger Global, GGV Capital, Westbridge among others.

The latest funding round has propelled Vendantu to become a yet another Indian edtech that has attained the unicorn status in recent months. Vedantu's platform has 35 million users, while its YouTube channel gets 65 million views.

The company aims to use the fresh funding to strengthen product engineering functions and expand into newer categories.

"With EdTech experiencing meteoric growth in India, Vedantu as the pioneer and category creator in LIVE online tutoring is driving the tectonic shift towards online learning. Vedantu's innovative platform empowers teachers who have delivered excellent results to offer personalized education to many students at once, creating the potential for impact at scale. Since last year, Vedantu has delivered quality K-12 learning to over 200,000 paying students, which is a remarkable 300% growth. This growth has accompanied a stellar 4.5x increase in its revenues.
