Industrial IoT growth of Infosys is positive due to 5G and engineering services.

Industrial IoT growth of Infosys is positive due to 5G and engineering services.

The engineering services business of Infosys is gaining traction in recent times due to the deployment of industrial IoT and software-defined 5G network applications. Although the company doesn’t classify its engineering service as a separate business unit, most of its offerings like robotics, IoT, and 3D printing are combined under their digital revenues. The digital business of the company contributed to almost 40 percent of the revenue for the quarter ending last December. Senior VP and Global head for engineering service of Infosys, Nitesh Bansal stated that engineering is one of the horizontal services that can serve all their verticals globally and also their new services are gaining momentum rapidly.

Few businesses like mining are trying their best to explore and set up their own private 5G, especially in the US because they have a CBRS band that can be accessed freely. Similar to that IoT is also an integral part of manufacturing, automotive, public services, etc... Furthermore, Bansal stated that Infosys is witnessing a positive spike in the industrial IoT space and this has been the topic of discussion from the past 3 years or so in the company. Expansion is expected in 2021 and the engagement level is also expected to rise significantly.
